Game Recap

The Southeast Pirates played Lake Center Christian to a 1-1 draw Thursday night at Southeast. The Pirates and Tigers battled through the first-half, forcing goalkeepers Tyler Dohse and Caleb Bower to make key saves for their teams. Lake Center would score first, converting a deep throw-in right before halftime. Down 1-0, the Pirates would refuse to quite in the second half. Challenging every 50/50 ball and keeping high pressure on the Tiger defense, the Pirates kept the game close. With 25:21 on the clock, Southeast Senior defender Brycen Sveda made a run down the sidelines, chasing a ball sent by Senior Thomas Niepsuij. Beating the final defender, Sveda crossed the ball into the box, just before front flipping over Bower sliding to make the save. Waiting on the back post, Senior Keadron Sondereker placed the ball in the net, and leveled the score at 1-1. Despite waves of Lake Center offense, Pirate defenders Carter Pfile, Jack Romocean, Tristan Dietz and Jacob Mix kept the score even, securing the tie. The result is satisfying the the Pirates, as they give first place Lake Center only their second tie in two years of league play.

Game Recap

The Southeast boys soccer team beat the Girard Indians 3-0 Tueaday night in Girard. Senior Tommy Dailey sparked the Pirate offense in the first half, with a long throw-in to Senior Noah Fisher who placed the ball in the net. Dailey would follow his assist with a goal of his own, finishing a breakaway created by Senior Tristan Dietz. After half-time, Goalkeeper Tyler Dohse would come up with many big saves to keep the Indians off the board. Defenders Carter Pfile and Jack Romocean helped to secure the clean sheet by winning multiple one-on-one battles. To cap the night, Dailey dialed up another throw-in, this time to Senior Keadron Sondereker, who fired in a 30 yard bomb to make the final score 3-0.

Meet Recap

The tennis team ended their season by defeating United, 3-2

1st singles: Paige Herron (Southeast) defeated Kari Andric (United) in two sets, 6-0, 6-1.

2nd singles: Kaylee Baker (Southeast) defeated Mariah Grate (United) in two sets, 6-2, 6-3.

3rd singles: Sage Robertson (Southeast) defeated Chloe Chappell (United) in two sets, 6-3, 6-2.

1st doubles: Kayla Dremann and Jessica Craft (Southeast) were defeated by Ashley Hahn and Grace Maroscher (United) in two sets, 1-6, 1-6.

2nd doubles: Faith Legros and Alexa Ziler (Southeast) were defeated by Kaley Bastian and Frankie Heffinger (United) after splitting the two sets 6-4, 1-6 and losing the ten point third set tiebreaker 6-10.

This brings the Pirates’ overall season record to 6-12, with a league record of 4-10.

Game Recap

The Southeast Pirates boys soccer team battled the Springfield Sprtans to a 1-1 draw Saturday night in Springfield. The Spartans scored 20 minutes into the first half with an unassisted goal by midfielder Kevin Moo. After a short rain delay at halftime, the Pirates turned on the heat offensively, winning corners and creating scoring chances from deep throw-ins. Senior defender Carter Pfile lead the Pirate defense to keep pressure forward. With 1:28 left on the clock, Senior Tommy Daily launched a throw-in inside the Spartan box. Senior Tristan Dietz won possession and layed the ball off to Senior midfielder John Leitzel who laced the ball top shelf to give the Pirates the tie.

Game Recap

The Southeast Pirates evened their record to 2-2 Friday night with a 35-20 victory over the East Liverpool Potters. The Pirates were led by senior running back Kyle Stull who contributed 171 yards on 36 carries and 3 touchdown. Stull also contributed in the passing game with 2 receptions for 79 yards. The Pirate air attack was also effective as junior quarterback Dylan Rogers completed 14 of 22 passes for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rogers biggest target was senior Billy Rose who accounted for 115 yards and a touchdown on 7 receptions.
Southeast started the scoring with a 1st quarter connection between Rogers and senior Kyle Pruitt. A Keadron Sondereker extra point made it 7-0 early. To conclude the 1st half, the Pirates added 21 points on a Rogers to Rose connection and two runs by Stull. East Liverpool also added 13 second quarter points to make the score 28-13 Pirates at the half.
The second half saw East Liverpool narrow the lead to 7 with 11:26 left in the 4th quarter, however the Pirates quickly answer with a score of their own. Two minutes later the Pirates capped off the victory with another Stull touchdown run, this time of 2 yards, which was set up by a 74 yard Rogers to Stull connection on a key third down.
To finish the game the Pirates were able to force a late punt by the Potters, which gave the Pirates the ability to run out the clock. The defense was led on the night by a 12.5 tackle and two sack performance by senior linebacker Hunter James.

Multiple Teams · Varsity Girls Soccer Wins Thriller Over Rovers 3-2


The girls won 3-2 over Rootstown which is the same score between these two teams earlier in the season. The win makes us 7-3 overall and 5-0 in the league. In the first game Erin Fisher had 2 goals and an assist and today she scored 3 goals for the hat trick. Carol Foster and Allissa Pow each recorded an assist.
